Summer Membership Meeting. The Privatization Study What's It All About?

Our speaker will be Andrew Quigley, Director of Environmental Services for the City of Tucson and Acting Director of Tucson Water. We will be discussing the policy agenda for transfer of government functions, services and assets to the private sector.

Saturday, June 25, 2011 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM Sam Lena-South Tucson Branch Library, 1607 S. 6th. Ave (at 26th St.) Workshop on "How to Plan a Forum". How to Plan a Forum, being presented by the League of Women Voters of Greater Tucson. The workshop will cover such topics as initial planning, working with other groups, legal considerations, site selection, choosing a moderator, contacting panelists and much more, including role-playing. This training would apply to issue forums as well as candidate debates.

Light refreshments will be served. While it's free and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, we urge participants to RSVP at 740-5779 or 622-0905 by June 22nd so we know how many packets of handouts to prepare.

We'd appreciate your sharing this information with your membership, in hopes that they in turn would pass it along to other groups to which they might belong.

"A PREVIEWOF THE 2012 ARIZONA LEGISLATIVE SESSION". This topic for the September meeting promises a lively session as former members of the Legislature feel very free to express their opinions on the activities of those in office!

Our speakers include former House Representatives from both parties in the Tucson area and an independent political correspondent.

Speakers are: Phil Lopes, a Democrat, served in the House, District 27, from 2003-2010 and was assistant minority leader. His emphasis was on health care-related legislation and education.
