Privatization
A group of about 8 people are reviewing and summaring facts regarding privatization.
Please contact the LWVGT office for meeting dates (contact list). Open to all to join in.
In accordance with direction from Convention 2010, LWVUS will undertake a study of "Privatization: the policy agenda to transfer government functions, services and assets to the private sector". The study will focus on the impact of privatizing government services on local communities. Members of the committee will be responsible for developing study materials and consensus questions, and participating in reviewing/ tabulating responses submitted by participating Leagues. Based on the submitted responses, the Committee will recommend position language to the Board.
Education
The Education Study scope is broad and includes the following areas under the role of the federal government in public education (preK through grade 12): the history, funding and equity issues which are addressed under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, and the common core standards/assessments which are required for many federal grant programs but are national, not federal.
